The Humane Society of West Alabama's cat adoption center at xxxx 36th Street in Northport is open Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. We are closed to the public on weekdays. We're an all-volunteer group and need advance notice to schedule appointments, therefore weekday appointments are available for adoption applicants only. For information on a specific animal, please visit our adoption center or email us at [email removed]! This little lady is Elmyra, a gorgeous solid black female cat. Elmyra is an older kitten or "teenager" at 13 months old (as of 7/5/14). Her very rounded head, petite body style and closely set round eyes are uncanny to a Bombay. But she is short-haired, so would definitely be a mix (although all her littermates were also solid black and similar to her in characteristics). Her personality is also uncanny to a Bombay. She's an affectionate sweetheart, and certainly not shy! Elmyra loves to be held and to show her affection to anyone she bonds with. She can be a quite a bit silly, too. She even has a tendency to carry her toys around like a puppy! Though she socializes very well with other cats, she can be a little bossy when she thinks she can get away with it. Elmyra would do great with gentle children, but we aren't sure how she would like dogs. We'd recommend a trial adoption for a home with a dog. Our flat adoption fee is $75, a fee to help defray a fraction of veterinary costs and general care expenses.
