This is Blazer, a 1-year-old (as of 8/22/14) male Labrador Retriever mix. He has a solid yellow coat and is a medium-sized dog, weighing 37 pounds. He may still grow a little bit and fill out some, getting closer to 45 pounds. He has a little leaner body build than a regular lab, almost like a little greyhound in him! Blazer was pulled from our local animal shelter, where he had been picked up by Animal Control and no one came to claim him. He had been down there almost a month! Here is an update from Blazer's foster home: "Blazer knows how to sit and fetch. He is much better in the house now, he has not had an accident in over 2 weeks. He goes and sits in front of the door when he needs to go out. . . Blazer knows what no means, so anything he has tried to eat, after being told no, does not attempt to eat it again. He is very playful and loves girls . . . We have taken him to the dog park several times and he does very well with other dogs." Blazer is a very sweet, fun, loving dog. A typical lab personality just wants to be with you and please you. He has a nice energy level and would be great for someone who likes to walk or run. He has had a few chewing problems like most young Labs do, which is easily corrected with a little training. Blazer may be too big for an apartment unless he gets lots of exercise. He will require a fenced yard. Blazer seems to get along well with other dogs and should be fine with children ages 8 and up. We have started on his crate training. Blazer is up to date on his vet care, neutered, heartworm negative and is microchipped. He is on heartworm and flea/tick prevention.
